Nantucket’s Synchronized Skating Team

Island Waves Synchro is Nantucket Skating Club’s synchronized skating program, bringing skaters together to learn, grow, and perform as one team. Synchronized skating combines individual skating skills with teamwork as skaters move across the ice in formations, patterns, and unison.

Throughout the season, team members work on skating skills, musicality, formations, transitions, and performance quality. Skaters learn how to stay connected with one another, communicate as a team, and adjust their timing to create a unified program on the ice.

Being part of Island Waves is about more than learning a routine. The program helps skaters build confidence, responsibility, sportsmanship, and lasting friendships. Every skater plays an important role, and the team celebrates each other’s progress both on and off the ice.

Island Waves practices and performs throughout the skating season. Team members have opportunities to participate in local ice shows, community events, and synchronized skating competitions while proudly representing Nantucket Skating Club. Traveling and competing together gives our skaters the chance to experience the excitement of being part of a team and connect with the larger skating community.

The program is open to skaters who have passed Basic Skills 4 or higher. Previous synchronized skating experience is not required—just a willingness to learn, work with others, and be a supportive teammate.

Our goal is to give Nantucket skaters an opportunity to continue developing their skills while being part of a fun, encouraging, and welcoming team. We are proud to watch the Island Waves grow together and share their love of skating with the Nantucket community.
